A Cheaper Alternative To... Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Concealer

I love concealer, some would say that I have an obsession with concealer because I own so many different ones. I have collected many high street brand and high end brand concealers over the years so I'd say I could easily pick out my loves and loathes.

The 3 things I look for in a concealer is longevity, texture and blend-ability. In my opinion the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Concealer ticks all three boxes and I think this is the best high end concealer I own. It blends into the skin very well, it lasts all day (even without creasing) and it doesn't have the heavy texture unlike many other concealers.
However, I recently came across a brilliant dupe, the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer.

Let's compare the two...

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Concealer - £19.00

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - £4.19

Similarities:
  • Size - The bottles are exactly the same size and they both contain 7ml.
  • Consistency - Both of the concealers have a thick consistency, they look pretty stodgy but luckily they don't feel it!
  • Coverage - Both of these concealers have amazing coverage, they literally cover everything! They'd probably cover tattoos but since I don't have a tattoo, I cannot try. Both of these concealers are great for if you want to cover a cheeky spot or imperfection!
  • Longevity - Both concealers are long lasting, they also do not crease, fade or slide off the skin. The Estee Lauder concealer is meant to last 15 hours and the Collection 2000 concealer is meant to last 16 hours. I cannot say whether both of these concealers last 15+ hours because I don't keep my makeup on for that length of time but judging from the excellence of both products, I'd say they would do.
  • Blend-ability - Both concealers have a thick consistency so you'd think that they'd be a nightmare to blend but they really aren't. They both blend well into the skin and you don't experience any 'tugging' whilst blending. I personally think it's best to blend these concealers using your fingers as they sink into the skin perfectly.
  • Applicator - Both of these concealers have a doe-foot applicator which in my opinion is great! It means you can easily place the concealer where you want it.

Differences:
  • Price - The Estee Lauder concealer retails at £19.00 whereas the Collection 2000 concealer retails at £4.19. You could buy 4 Collection 2000 concealers for the price of 1 Estee Lauder concealer, in my opinion, that is utter MADNESS!
  • Packaging - The Estee Lauder concealer comes in a glass tube, it also has a gold lid and gold writing on the side of the bottle, I can also 100% assure you that the writing doesn't rub off like the writing on the Collection 2000 concealer does. The Collection 2000 concealer has a black lid instead of a gold lid making it look cheap but for £4.19, I'm really not that bothered about the packaging.
  • Shades - The Estee Lauder concealer comes in 8 different shades whereas the Collection 2000 concealer only comes in 4 different shades. The lack of shades doesn't affect me as the palest shade is perfect for me, it may be a problem for those who have a dark skin tone though.
  • Availability - Estee Lauder can be purchased from a variety of places worldwide whereas Collection 2000 can only be purchased in the UK from Boots.

There really isn't any difference between the two and I really regret buying the Estee Lauder concealer as they are both so similar, I could have spent the £19.00 more wisely. Overall I'd say to go for the Collection 2000 concealer as it's so much cheaper. If you're the sort of person that only sticks to high end brands then obviously go for the Estee Lauder, but in my opinion, you're mad!
