IMATS London 2012

As some of you will know, I attended the IMATS this year and if you don't know what IMATS is then it's the International Makeup Artist Trade Show, hence 'IMATS'. I didn't openly talk about going to the IMATS on here, Twitter or YouTube as I was slightly feared that someone may want to track me down and kill me. I announced I was going the day before the IMATS so that scary people couldn't have the chance to buy train tickets etc. I only think Steph (moreemilk), and a couple of other people knew I was going.

Anyway, I won't waffle anymore about getting killed by a scary person so here are some lovely pictures that I took at the IMATS.

Me & Louise

I initially wanted to go to the IMATS for the super duper discounts but after actually going, it wasn’t the discounts that made the trip worthwhile, it was the people I met. If I’m being honest, the highlight of my day was meeting people; I met Steph (moreemilk) who is such a beautiful and lovely girl! I love Steph and will be seeing her again very soon, and when I do I’ll be stealing her eyelashes! I also met Louise (sprinkleofglitter) who is absolutely amazing! She’s so bubbly and lovely, and absolutely stunning! I honestly wish Louise was my next-door neighbour; she’d make life so much better! My Mum, Sister and I are huge fans of Louise so it was lovely to finally meet her and spend the afternoon with her. I also met the gorgeous Georgie (dreamsthatglitterxoxo) who is such a lovely and sweet girl; I am soooo pleased I met her! I also was introduced to the human CATnav, Becca (lilmisstuttyfruitie) and also Laura (beautyloversnotes) who are utterly lovely! It was nice spending the afternoon with the girls. Think my boyfriend probably felt left out though!

I would definitely go to the IMATS again providing I got there for 8:30am instead of 10am, had a press pass, as it wasn’t worth £45 and also had a discount card. If you’re thinking of going to the IMATS next year then prepare yourself for not being able to buy anything from MAC Pro and Illamasqua as the stands were always manic and very overcrowded. If I hadn’t of known a girl that was working on MAC Pro, I wouldn’t have bought anything. Also, take a bag with a zip, you’re so close to people that someone could easily put their hand in your bag. Other than the small issues it was great and some places did offer amazing discounts, Make Up For Ever had a whopping 35% off so it was definitely worth it just for that!

Overall I enjoyed going to the IMATS and I’ll be going to IMATS 2013, I’ll just be staying over the night before and taking a separate trip to MAC Pro.

Lana Del Rey 'Born To Die' Look

I think Lana Del Rey is possibly one of the most talked about people right now as her music has become a favourite amongst a lot of people. Not only that but her album has reached the No.1 hot spot in 11 countries, pretty impressive.

Because of all the 'Lana Love' that's going on, I thought I'd re-create the look she wore in the 'Born To Die' video.

Here is the look she wore in the video...

And here's the look I created...

Eyes

Face

Products used to create this look:
Eyes:
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (Eyeshadows used: 'Foxy', 'Booty Call', 'Tease', 'Snakebite' and 'Blackout')
  • MAC Penultimate Eyeliner
  • MAC Eye Kohl in 'Fascinating'
  • MAC Zoom Lash Mascara
  • Eyelashes (eBay)
  • Duo Eyelash Glue
Face:
  • Chanel Perfection Lumiere in 'Beige - 10'
  • MAC Select Coverup in 'NW15'
Lips:
  • Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in 'Dragon - 76'

If you would like to know how to create this look, follow my nice and easy steps.

  1. Apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion to the eyelids. Blend using a finger.
  2. First apply the base eyeshadow, for this apply a small amount of 'Foxy' to the eyelids using a flat eyeshadow brush.
  3. Once the base eyeshadow has been applied, apply 'Booty Call' directly over the top. Again, use a flat eyeshadow brush.
  4. It's time to apply eyeshadow, for this take a small amount of 'Tease' on a blending brush and place in the socket of the eye. Only blend lightly as it doesn't need to be fully blended out. It needs to look as if there's a dark shade on the socket.
  5. To emphasise the darkness, apply 'Snakebite' directly over the top of the 'Tease'. Again, blend lightly.
  6. Using 'Blackout' and an eyeliner brush, line the top lash line.
  7. Apply 'Tease' and 'Snakebite' to the bottom lash line. You can do this by mixing the 2 eyeshadows together and using an eyeliner brush to apply.
  8. Use 'Fascinating' on the bottom waterline as this will open the eyes.
  9. Line the top lash line using the penultimate eyeliner and create a large wing.
  10. Apply mascara to the top and bottom eyelashes. At this point you can also apply false eyelashes.
For the face, apply foundation to the skin using a flat top brush and then apply red lipstick to the lips. I didn't apply blush or bronzer as Lana Del Rey didn't appear to wear any in the video.

I hoped you like this look, it was quite an easy one to do!
