MUA Lip Boom in 'Cheeky'

As many of you will already know, MUA have recently launched their latest lip invention, the 'Lip Boom'. The Lip Boom is a multifunctional product, meaning it has different uses. I don't think I've ever seen anything like the Lip Booms so as you can imagine I was VERY excited to try/review them.
The lovely Maggie sent me the shades 'Cheeky', 'Doin Good' and 'Bring It' to review so I thought I'd start by reviewing the shade 'Cheeky' as it's my favourite out of the three.

Lip Boom: "Lipstick and highlighting gloss that creates fuller curvaceous lips for a dramatic illusion of volume."

What MUA have to say about their Lip Boom...

"Created with Alexandra Burke by MUA!! Lipstick and highlighting gloss that creates fuller curvaceous lips for a dramatic illusion of volume. There are 4 amazing ways to transform your lips and give them some Boom! 1. Lipstick alone for a matte look. 2. Lipstick with highlighter applied just to the centre of your lips to create a full volume illusion. 3. Lipstick with highlighter all over for a super-glossy look. 4. Highlighter alone for a sheer pearl finish. There are 8 amazing shades in the range so grab yourself some BOOM!'

What are the different ways of applying the Lip Boom?
  1. The lipstick can be worn alone for a matte look.
  2. Whilst wearing the lipstick, the highlighter can be applied just to the centre of the lips to create a full volume illusion.
  3. The highlighter can be applied directly over the top of the lipstick for a super-glossy look.
  4. The highlighter can be worn alone for a sheer pearl finish.

Where can you buy the Lip Booms and how much do they retail at?

The MUA Lip Booms retail at £3.00 and can be purchased online at MUA. They will also be available in-store and online at Superdrug from the 5th of May. MUA currently have an offer where you receive an Immaculate Palette for free by using the code 'FB20000' so now is the perfect chance to buy one or two of the Lip Booms. The offer ends tonight at midnight night so get buying!

How many shades are there?

There are 8 different shades available, ranging from nude to deep vampy red. All of the shades have a matte finish too.
  • It's a situation - Berry Red
  • LMK (Let Me Know) - Deep Red
  • OK.com - Typical Nude
  • Vibe - Orange Toned Nude
  • Cheeky - Baby Pink
  • Doin Good - Orange Toned Red
  • OMG - Coral
  • Bring It - Typical Red

What does the Lip Boom look like?

Lip Boom in 'Cheeky' - Has a highlighter at one end and a lipstick at the other. There's also a small pot at the bottom which is filled with product.

I took this photograph to show you all how big the Lip Boom is, in comparison to my hand.

This is what the Lip Boom looks like separately.

The lipstick:
Has a blue toned pink shade. A typical barbie pink.
Has a matte finish.

Extra Pot:
Filled with a creamy product that has the same shade as the lipstick.

 The highlighter:
Has pink/red tone with silver glitter particles.
Has a doe foot applicator.

Swatches

Top: Lipstick - True Barbie Pink
Bottom: Highlighter - Red Toned Pink With Silver Glitter Particles

Top: Lipstick worn alone
Bottom: Lipstick with highlighter in the middle

Top: Lipstick with highlighter all over
Bottom: Highlighter worn alone

Are the Lip Booms suitable for everyone?

Anyone can buy the Lip Booms but I would primarily recommend them to those who have normal lips and not those who suffer with dry or very dry lips as all Lip Booms have a matte finish. If you're a dry lip sufferer, you'll know that matte lipsticks aren't the best as the colour tends to stick to dry patches making the dryness look more obvious. Lipsticks with a creamy finish cover dry patches as opposed to sticking to them.
I'm also not saying that people with dry lips should disregard the Lip Booms as you could always exfoliate your lips or use a lip butter/balm underneath them.
If you have soft, supple lips then you will love the Lip Booms.

The Good
  • Concept - I love the concept of the Lip Boom as it's something different, a lipstick and highlighter in one. It is argue-able that the Lip Boom has the same concept at the Look Beauty Double Hit Lip but if you think about it, they're both completely different products. The Lip Boom comes with a highlighter and the Double Hit Lip comes with a lipgloss. Out of the two, I prefer the Lip Booms as the highlighter is utterly amazing. I also think it's brilliant how one handy tube enables you to create 4 different looks.
  • Pigmentation - The pigmentation of both the lipstick and the highlighter is amazing. The lipstick is more pigmented than the highlighter but you would expect that as it's a lipstick, it needs to be pigmented. I would compare the pigmentation of the highlighter to that of a lipgloss, the only differences are the highlighter has slight better colour pay off than a lipgloss and it also has a high amount of glitter particles unlike lipgloss. I really wish MUA sold the highlighters separately as I feel they are MUCH better than lipglosses. You get an intense shine and subtle colour but you don't get that awful sticky feeling.
  • Longevity - If I had to guess a time frame, I would say that the lipstick would last around 6-8 hours and the highlighter would last around 1-2 hours. If the lipstick and highlighter were worn together I would say 4-6 hours. Both the lipstick and highlighter have good pigmentation meaning they're going to last a while on the lips. The lipstick also has a matte finish and matte lipsticks tend to last a lot longer on the lips than creamy lipsticks.
  • Packaging - I think the packaging is practical, sleek and it certainly doesn't look cheap or tacky despite the VERY appealing price tag. My only issue is that the pot at the bottom of the Lip Boom comes off easily so a screw fastening would have been more appropriate. I also like how the highlighter comes with a doe foot applicator as I find that you're able to apply the highlighter evenly and precisely.
  • Price - £3.00 is such an amazing price, especially for a multi-functional product. I would have expected the Lip Booms to cost a lot more than they actually do.
  • Size - The size of the Lip Boom may be quite hefty and it may be bigger than my hand but it's certainly not so big that it won't fit in your bag or makeup bag. At the end of the day the Lip Boom contains both a highlighter and a lipstick so it's not going to be small. The lipstick also contains a lot of product, more product than most high-end lipsticks! Why pay £17.50 for a minuscule Nars lipstick when you can pay £3.00 for an MUA Lip Boom!
  • Shade Selection - There is a good selection of shades and I have to say that I'm very impressed that MUA have included deep, dark shades that are appropriate for A/W as well as bright shades that are appropriate for S/S. I'm impressed with the shade 'Cheeky' as it's pink, girly and right up my street. If I had physically bought the Lip Booms myself, I would have definitely picked up 'Cheeky'. I must admit it looks VERY similar to 'Overtime' by MAC so I think I have found myself a potential dupe.
The Okay
  • Availability - The Lip Booms can be purchased on the MUA online store and will eventually be sold in-store and online at Superdrug. It would be nice if MUA was sold in other stores, for example, Boots but I guess beggars cannot be choosers. Buying MUA products isn't an issue if you live in the UK but I would imagine that it might be a bit of an issue if you live internationally.
  • Texture - I don't know if it's just the shade 'Cheeky' but the lipstick had a really sturdy texture. I  know 'sturdy' isn't the correct word to describe it but the lipstick was really tough. I found it hard to swatch on my hand as I really had to press the lipstick onto my hand and I also had to do the same on my lips. The lipstick doesn't have a smooth texture at all and I think this is primarily due to it having a matte finish. Ideally I'd like the lipstick to have more a smooth texture as it'd be easier to apply. Luckily the highlighter has a nice, non-sticky texture but it does feel very bitty and this is due to the high amount of large glitter particles within the highlighter.
  • Finish - All the Lip Booms have a matte finish and if truth be told, I do genuinely like a matte finish but at the moment I'm really disliking lip products with a matte finish as they all tend to stick to the dry bits on my lips. The only reason why 'finish' is in the 'okay' section is for the fact that the Lip Booms will not be suitable for the majority of people as a lot of people suffer with dry lips. Some matte lipsticks masque dry skin but this particular Lip Boom does not do this, maybe I will have more luck with the other two shades. The highlighter, however, has a glossy finish which looks lovely on the lips, especially when it's worn alone.
The Bad
  • Scent - The scent of the highlighter is absolutely horrendous, it's sweet, sickly and generally unpleasant. I personally think it smells of Kellogg's squares bars which some of you may like but I just think it's awful. You cannot smell it once it's on your lips, you can only smell it when applying it which I guess is a bonus. The lipstick also has a scent but I wouldn't necessarily say it was unpleasant or overpowering like the scent of the highlighter.

Overall...
Overall I like the Lip Booms as they're a handy product to chuck in your handbag as you've got a lipstick and highlighter in one and I especially like the shade selection as there's plenty to choose from. The only two things I do not like are the matte finish and the scent of the highlighter. I also feel that the texture of the lipstick could be a little creamier as it's quite stiff meaning it's hard to apply. Other than that, I like the Lip Booms and I'll definitely be purchasing the shade 'OMG' as it looks perfect for S/S. If you're looking for a matte pink lipstick with the added extra of a super sparkly finish, this Lip Boom will be perfect for you!

Would I recommend? Yes but be careful if you have dry lips!
Would I purchase? Yes
Rating? 7/10

Have you tried any of the MUA Lip Booms?
:)

*The MUA Lip Boom in 'Cheeky' was sent to me for review purposes. This does not affect my thoughts and opinions on the product. As always, my reviews are 100% truthful.

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks

I recently bought two of the new L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks as I wanted to know what all the hype was about. Not only that but when something new launches I'm eager to try it.
I only bought two of the lipsticks but now wish I'd bought more of them, especially since I could have taken full advantage of the Boots 3 for 2 offer.
I only bought a couple as I didn't want to buy 5 of them just incase I didn't like them, I'm also not a fan of sheer lipsticks as other ones I've tried in the past have been a disappointment.

The shades I purchased were '03 Lovely Rose' and '07 Cheeky Magenta', '03 Lovely Rose' is a lovely pale pink and '07 Cheeky Magenta' is a bright hot pink.

What L'Oreal have to say about the Rouge Caresse lipsticks...

"Don't just stroke your lips, Caresse them. Lips say yes to this Caresse. A flutter of kissably soft light-weight feeling colour. Its delicate texture glides onto lips creating a veil of colour with a lumious shine. Available in 10 bright and eye catching shades."

What are the product claims?
  • Have a weightless and feather light feel.
  • Provide lips with a luminous, fresh colour.
  • Have a melting soft application.

Where can you buy the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks?

The Rouge Caresse lipsticks retail at £7.99 each and can be purchased in-store and online at both Boots and Superdrug. Both stores usually have offers on L'Oreal products so it might be worth picking up a couple of these lipsticks when either store has a 3 for 2 offer.

How many shades are there?

There are 10 different shades available, ranging from pink/purple tones to red/coral tones to nude/brown tones:
  • 01 Fashionista Pink
  • 03 Lovely Rose
  • 06 Aphrodite Scarlet
  • 07 Cheeky Magenta
  • 101 Tempting Lilac
  • 105 Mauve Mesmerising
  • 202 Impulsive Fuchsia
  • 301 Dating Coral
  • 401 Rebel Red
  • 501 Nude Indulgence

What do the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks look like?

03 'Lovely Rose'

07 'Cheeky Magenta'

Are the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks suitable for everyone?

The Rouge Caresse lipsticks are suitable for absolutely anyone, no matter if you have dry or normal lips. If I were to recommend these lipsticks to anyone then I'd suggest them to anyone suffering with dry lips as they're very moisturising so leave lips feeling hydrated. If you're looking for a lipstick with good pigmentation but a moisturising texture then you're going to love these!

The Good
  • Pigmentation - They have amazing pigmentation considering they're a mix between a lip-balm and a lipstick. I expected them to only have slight pigmentation so when I swatched them I couldn't believe my eyes.
  • Finish - They have a shiny, glossy finish which leave lips looking lovely and luscious. I also noticed that they made my lips appear fuller, something no lipstick has ever done before.
  • Build-able - The lipsticks have a build-able colour (coverage), one layer will give a sheen of colour, two layers will give intense colour.
  • Texture - They have a very moisturising texture, almost a water-like texture. They leave lips feeling soft, supple and hydrated. If you suffer with dry or chapped lips, your lips will love these beauties!
  • Packaging - I think the packaging is sleek, sophisticated and it's definitely something that I've never seen before. I think it's great how the lipstick is displayed in a clear tube as you're able to select the correct shade with ease. You don't have to faff around checking the bottom of the tube to see which shade it is.
  • Shade Selection - There are 10 different shades which is brilliant, L'Oreal really have catered for everyone. There is a lovely mix of different shades, from pinks to reds to corals to neutrals to nudes. Due to the wide selection of shades, there's going to be a shade for absolutely anyone. The only thing I will say is that it'd be nice to see a few more shades appropriate for autumn/winter as the shades seem to be very summery. I know you wouldn't necessarily wear these lipsticks in winter as they have a fresh, glossy finish but it's always nice to have to option. Sometimes my lips get really chapped in winter so I feel I cannot wear my vampy matte shades so it'd be nice to have the option of buying a vampy toned Rouge Caresse.
  • Price - The lipsticks retail at £7.99 which I think is quite reasonable in comparison to most sheer/glossy lipsticks. The Nars sheer lipsticks retail at £17.50 and the MAC glaze lipsticks retail at £13.50, both are a lot more expensive than the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks yet they have the same concept, finish.

The Okay
  • Longevity - The lipsticks last around 1-2 hours before having to re-apply. I hoped that they'd last a little longer as applying every 2 hours can be quite annoying. Not only that but re-applying frequently means that your lipstick isn't going to last 2 minutes. Realistically, £7.99 could be deemed as quite expensive for a lipstick that doesn't last long. Although the lipsticks don't have amazing longevity, they do somewhat slightly stain (tint) your lips so even when the lipstick has completely faded, you're still left with a pleasant colour.
  • Availability - The Rouge Caresse lipsticks can be purchased from both Boots and Superdrug which is great if you're based in the UK but it may be a problem if you live internationally.

The Bad
  • Formula  - Due to the lipsticks being so moisturising and water-like, they melt really easy so you HAVE to keep them away from any form of heat. That includes natural sun light, radiators, handbags etc.

Overall...

Out of the two lipsticks I purchased I would recommend '03 Lovely Rose' simply because it's more of an everyday, wearable colour. I also feel it has better pigmentation than '07 Cheeky Magenta' even though '07 Cheeky Magenta' is a bolder and brighter colour.
I think these lipsticks are great for anyone suffering with dry/chapped lips as they have a lovely light, moisturising texture, they leave lips feeling soft and supple but also hydrated. The moisturising texture doesn't fade away throughout the day which is a massive bonus as the majority of lip balms / glossy lipsticks give the lips a quick moisturising fix but then tend to fade quite quickly.
The lipsticks last around 1-2 hours on the lips so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them to anyone wanting a lipstick with immense pigmentation and staying power as they do only last a couple of hours. But if you're not looking for a lipstick thats going to last 12 hours then it's worth giving these a go as they're great for S/S due the vast selection of summer shades and luscious glossy finish.

Would I recommend? Yes
Would I re-purchase? Yes

MAC Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick

On Wednesday, MAC sent me a little email with a code attached to it. It wasn't just any code, it was a code enabling me to get the Viva Glam Nicki lipstick before it launches next week. As you can imagine I was super excited and literally bought the beauty as soon as I'd read the email.

There are 2 reasons why I bought this lipstick; one, its another lipstick to add to my ever growing collection and two, it's for a good cause. I don't know if you know much about the MAC Aids Fund but 'Viva Glam' is part of it, in the form of the annual 'Viva Glam' lipsticks. All profits from the Viva Glam lipsticks go towards helping women, men and children living with and affected by aids. This year Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin have teamed up with the MAC Aids Fund team and released Viva Glam Nicki.

I actually bought 2 of these lovely lipsticks, one for myself and one for my giveaway. I was going to include the MAC 'Watch Me Simmer' lipstick in my giveaway but since the MAC Aids Fund is a such great cause, I decided to buy a Viva Glam Nicki lipstick instead. I'm sure you'll all prefer that anyway!

What do MAC have to say about Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick?

"M∙A∙C and hip-hop diva Nicki Minaj join forces to create VIVA GLAM Nicki, a scene-stealing Lipstick. Every cent from the sale goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV and AIDS. Limited Edition."

How would you describe Viva Glam Nicki and where is it available?

Viva Glam Nicki is described as a 'bright yellow pink' and I would agree with that description. To me it also looks very neon so if you're not into neons, then you probably won't like this lippy. Word of warning, it WILL make your teeth look ever so lightly yellow so prepare to whack out the crest strips. Viva Glam Nicki is definitely my kind of colour as I love anything bold and bright but it may not be to everyones taste. If you want something a little less vibrant then check out MAC 'Costa Chic' lipstick!  Viva Glam Nicki is definitely a summer colour so I'll be saving it until I go on my jolly holidays as at the moment it makes me look a little 'dead'.
Viva Glam Nicki has a satin finish, it's rich, creamy and glides straight onto the lips. If you've got dry lips then your going to love this lipstick as it has a lovely texture but I will warn you, it settles into every line imaginable. Not so attractive.

Viva Glam Nicki retails at £13.50 and all proceeds go towards the MAC Aids Fund. The lipstick isn't currently available in the UK as it releases next week, online on the 28th of February and in-store on the 1st of March. I was just fortunate enough to get sent a little MAC code, MAC may also send you a little code if you sign up to Nicki & Ricky on the homepage!

Is Viva Glam Nicki suitable for everyone?

With regards to colour, Viva Glam Nicki will suit the majority of people but I would be careful if you have a lighter skin tone. When I applied this lipstick to my lips it made me look a little washed out so I think I'll have to pile on the bronzer if I want to wear this lipstick as I may end up looking like something from the Adams Family if I don't. I'm not saying it won't suit everyone with a lighter skin tone but I'd just try it first. Without a shadow of a doubt, this lipstick will look beautiful on anyone with a medium to dark skin tone.

With regards to those who suffer with dry lips, this lipstick could be either your enemy or your friend. Whilst it has a super creamy texture, it does cling to every single dry bit on your lips. As I said in my last post, there are a couple of things you could do to remove the dead skin cells on your lips. You could brush your lips with a tooth brush, use a lip scrub or simply wear a lip balm underneath the lipstick.

The Good
  • Pigmentation – As with all MAC lipsticks, this lipstick has great pigmentation. When applying this lipstick you only need one swipe across your lips. Due to only needing to apply one swipe, this lipstick is going to last a very long time!
  • Texture – The lipstick has a satin finish, it's creamy, smooth and it glides onto the lips with ease. Throughout the day it feels very comfortable on the lips therefore it is perfect those who have dry lips and also those who don't have dry lips.
  • Size - The lipstick contains 3g which is quite good. I know that some high-end lipsticks contain a lot less so 3g is pretty good. I also know for a fact that this lipstick is going to last me a lifetime as you literally only need one swipe due to the high pigmentation.
  • Packaging - The packaging is just the standard Viva Glam packaging, except this time it has Nicki Minaj's signature on it. I like the packaging as it fits in with the cause very well.
  • Application - This lipstick applies to the lips very well due to the lipstick having a creamy formulation. I also find that this lipstick doesn't bleed therefore you don't need to wear a lip liner underneath it. If you would like application to be more precise, you could always apply by using a lip brush instead.

The Okay
  • Longevity – This lipstick lasts around 3-4 hours, which disappoints me slightly as I expected the lipstick to last around 6-8 hours. When drinking I noticed that a lot of my lipstick had transferred onto my cup, I imagine that this lipstick wouldn't survive through eating and also, continuous drinking. I think in future I'll have to use a lip primer underneath this lipstick.
  • Price - £13.50 is pretty ridiculous for one lipstick but all proceeds go to the MAC Aids Fund so I guess you can't complain really.
  • Availability - The lipstick isn't available at the moment but it will be sold online and in-store as of next week.

The Bad
  • The lipstick is Limited Edition therefore once it's gone, it's gone. There are similar alternatives available but if this is the shade you're after then you need to buy it while you can.

So will you be buying the MAC Viva Glam Nicki lipstick?

Thanks for reading!

MAC Quick Sizzle Lipstick

As the majority of MAC lovers will know, the MAC Shop, MAC Cook collections have been released in-store and online at Selfridges. The collection will be released on the MAC website on the 28th of February and in-store on the 1st of March. I'm not sure when the collection will be released on the Debenhams website but I presume it'll be around the same time.

MAC Shop and MAC Cook are separate collections. MAC Shop consists of lipsticks, blush and eyeshadows whereas MAC Cook consists of eye liners, mascara, lip balms, nail polishes, pressed powder and brushes. I have to say that the MAC Shop and MAC Cook collections are very fun and are possibly 2 of the best collections that MAC have released in a long long time.

I have purchased quite a lot from both collections and will be reviewing the products individually as I can review each of the products in depth.

What do MAC have to say about the lipsticks?

Here's what MAC have to say about the lipstick in the MAC Shop collection:
"Spring lips dish it up! With our shop-til-you-drop shades and the collection's colourful and fun packaging these shades stay fashionable long after check-out. Limited edition!"

How would you describe 'Quick Sizzle' and where is it available?

Quick Sizzle is described as a bright pink but I would say it's a bright pink with blue undertones. It reminds me of MAC 'Girl About Town' except girl about town is just a touch darker, if anyone would like me to do a comparison post then please let me know. Quick Sizzle is more of a 'summer' shade due to it's brightness but I don't see why it cannot be worn all year round. Quick Sizzle has a matte finish but a creamy texture. It's possibly the creamiest matte lipstick I've ever tried, it honestly doesn't feel like it has a matte finish at all. It looks matte in appearance but not in texture.

Quick Sizzle retails at £13.50 and is currently available on the Selfridges website, but for how long I do not know. This collection is a collection that WILL sell out fast so grab things while you can! You'll also be able to purchase this lipstick from the MAC website as of the 28th of February and in-store as of the 1st of March so jot down those dates if you're after this lovely lippy! If you'd like to purchase this lipstick right this second, here's the link for Selfridges; Selfridges| MAC Lipsticks

What does 'Quick Sizzle' look like?

Now for the swatches...

(On the lips)

Is 'Quick Sizzle' suitable for everyone?

With regards to colour, Quick Sizzle will suit everyone without a shadow of a doubt. Whether you have a light or dark skin tone, this lipstick will suit you. The only thing I will say is that it has a matte finish so those of you who have very dry lips may not get on well with this lipstick. However, it does feel rather creamy for a matte lipstick so maybe you'll be okay. I know that a lot of MAC matte lipsticks feel very drying on the lips after they have settled so I'd still recommend trying before you buy, just to be on the safe side.
If you do suffer with dry lips then you could wear a lip balm underneath the lipstick. A handy tip is to also brush your lips with a toothbrush as this removes any dead skin cells, a lip scrub may also work.

The Good
  • Pigmentation – As with all MAC lipsticks, this lipstick has amazing pigmentation. It’s so pigmented that it actually stains your skin if you get it anywhere else other than your lips. When applying this lipstick, I accidently got a bit just above my lip and I found it so hard to remove! Another great thing about this lippy is that you only need to use a small amount, in the long run, this is going to last a very long time!
  • Longevity – This lipstick lasts around 6-8 hours, which is standard for a lipstick, especially a MAC matte lipstick. I do have MAC matte lipsticks that last a longer, for example ‘Russian Red’. The more drying MAC matte lipsticks tend to last a lot longer and this is simply down to the finish. If you want your lipstick to last then I recommend wearing a lip liner underneath or maybe a lip primer.
  • Texture – Even though this lipstick has a matte finish, it does have a creamy and smooth texture, it just glides onto the lips. I find that some MAC matte lipsticks can have a ‘pulling’ feeling when applying them to the lips but fortunately this lipstick glides straight on. This lipstick also feels very comfortable on the lips and to me, it doesn’t feel drying at all. If you have very dry lips you may think that this lipstick is quite drying, I advise to try before you buy!
  • Size - The lipstick contains 3g which is quite good. I know that some high-end lipsticks contain a lot less so 3g is pretty good. I also know for a fact that this lipstick is going to last me a lifetime as you literally only need one swipe due to the high pigmentation.
  • Packaging - I LOVE this packaging! It's fun, quirky and eye-catching! I especially like how it's got a sleeve over the standard MAC packaging as once the sleeve gets grubby, I can just throw it away and I'll still be left with the normal MAC packaging. I also liked how MAC didn't charge extra for the products like they usually do. In recent years, MAC upped the price of Limited Edition products because of the packaging, thankfully they didn't do it this time! The only thing that disappointed me is that the lipstick tube isn't funky.
  • Availability - The lipstick is only available on the Selfridges website at the moment but it will be available on many online shops and also in-store very soon.

The Okay
  • Application - This lipstick applies to the lips very well due to the lipstick having a creamy formulation but the only problem with it is that, because it's so creamy it goes everywhere. So if you apply this lipstick straight from the tube, you really are risking getting it everywhere and as I said earlier, it stains your skin. I think it would be best to apply this lipstick using a brush so that application is precise with no mess or fuss.
  • Price - I have no problem with buying MAC lipsticks as I think they're worth the money but I have to admit that £13.50 for one lipstick is ridiculous. MAC have also upped their prices over the years which I think is a little cheeky as their products have never been somewhat 'reasonably priced'.

The Bad
  • The lipstick is Limited Edition therefore once it's gone, it's gone. There are similar alternatives available but if this is the shade you're after then you need to buy it while you can. MAC collections sell out fast, this is a well known fact.

Hope you liked this post! Will any of you be buying this lovely lipstick?

Thanks for reading!

Inglot Cream Lipstick in '127'

I have been wanting to try Inglot products for a while and as soon as they launched a UK website, I jumped at the chance of buying some of the products. I bought a large selection of eyeshadows, lipsticks, glitters, eyeliners and other various things of which I'll be blogging about in the coming weeks.

The first thing I'm going to show you all is a cream lipstick. I only purchased one of the cream lipsticks as I'd never tried them before but I think I'll be purchasing more very soon so hopefully I'll be able to show you more of the cream lipsticks in the near future.

Inglot offer 3 different types of lipsticks; 'Matte', 'Cream' and 'Pearl'. The different finishes are available in a wide selection of shades, possibly the largest amount of shades I've ever seen. The great thing about this is that if you're after a red lipstick but don't want a red matte lipstick, you can easily select a red cream lipstick. The lipsticks also retail at £10.00 each which I think is pretty reasonable as the quality is better than a MAC lipstick.

I knew I wanted to try a bright red lipstick so I tried to find a colour that looked remotely bright. Luckily I chose the right one, even though I had to guess.

So without further ado, here is the lipstick I chose...

Cream Lipstick in '127'

Swatch on my hand...

Swatch on the lips...

The Good:
  • Pigmentation - The lipstick is very pigmented, I was actually shocked at how pigmented it was. You also only need to use a tiny bit, this is a huge positive as the lipstick is going to last.
  • Longevity - The lipstick has great staying power, I would say it lasts around 6-8 hours with eating and drinking. With any other lipstick you would expect the staying power to be around 4-5 hours.
  • Texture - The lipstick feels very comfortable on the lips so it would be a great choice if you suffer with dry lips. I find that I can't wear matte red lipsticks in winter as my lips go really dry so it's nice to have a red lipstick that I can actually wear. The lipstick applies very well to the lips as the texture is smooth and creamy.
  • Size - The lipstick contains 4.5g of product which is brilliant. A MAC lipstick, for example, contains 3g of product so you're getting an extra 1.5g with Inglot lipsticks. More product for less of a price!
  • Variety - I have honestly never seen as many lipstick shades in all my life, there is literally a shade for everyone. There's every shade imaginable, even a gold lipstick!

The Okay:
  • Packaging - I wouldn't say the packaging was particularly good or bad, it's just okay. I think the black shiny tube is lovely, and in a way it looks quite classy but I think it could be better. I know I shouldn't be complaining about the packaging because the product itself is great but for £10.00, I think the packaging could be a little better. I also find that the lid is a little tricky to push on, almost as if you can feel air being trapped under the lid. It doesn't affect the lipstick in anyway but it just feels a bit odd when putting the lid back on.
  • Availability - Now I know that Inglot have an online website and also a store in London but other than that you cannot get hold of it. I wouldn't necessarily say the availability is a huge issue as you can buy online, however I think £5.00 for delivery is appalling.
  • Price - Although £10.00 seems quite reasonable, it's still considered to be expensive to some people. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative then try the Sleek 'True Colour' lipsticks! If you don't mind paying extra, then I'd definitely recommend trying an Inglot cream lipstick.

The Bad:
  • Website - There is nothing wrong with the lipstick itself, but the website is horrendous. It's hard trying to find the perfect shade as the colour chart isn't very clear. I think Inglot need to take tips off Illasmasqua and start doing proper swatches as it's hard to look at various shades. I also think the website could be set out a little nicer as it looks a bit boring.

Overall it's a lovely lipstick and I would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I will say is that it's quite bright so if you're a little colour shy, it might not be the one for you, you could always try another shade though! I'll definitely be buying more of these very soon!

Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in 'Big Bang'

Many of you will know this but last weekend Debenhams were offering 10% off everything in the beauty department. Me being me took advantage of this wonderful offer and cheekily bought the Urban Decay Book Of Shadows IV and an Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color.

Here what Urban Decay have to say about the Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color...
"These innovative lipstick pencils give you rich, opaque and vibrant colour with a gorgeous high gloss finish in one easy to use, carry-anywhere pencil. With a truly all-in-one formula, these give long lasting, rich lip colour without any feathering and also moisturise lips for a comfortable feeling and soft, supple look. In a range of bright, fun colours with creamy or sparkly finishes, these will be your new favourite lip colours!"

The Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colors retail at £14.00 each and they are available in 5 different shades, ranging from bright pink to neon orange.

Here are the shade names:
F-Bomb - True Red
Adrenaline - Red Pink With Glitter
Punch Drunk - Neon Orange
Crush - Neon Pink
Big Bang - Bright Pink With Glitter

I bought the shade 'Big Bang' due to the intense colour and glitteriness, it's probably the most glittery lip product that I've ever seen, and I've seen a few.

The Good:
  • Concept - I love the concept of these lip pencils as they're a lipstick, lip gloss and lip liner in one meaning you don't have to buy three separate products. I usually wear MAC lipstick, lip liner and lip gloss and if I purchased these 3 products it would cost me £42.00. So by buying an Urban Decay Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Color, you're in effect saving yourself £28.00.
  • Longevity - Even though the lip pencils have a gloss finish, they last all day. I drank copious amounts of tea whilst wearing the lip pencil and it didn't budge whatsoever. If you look at my hand after removing the swatch you'll notice that my hand was stained. The lip pencils are great for those of you who are looking for a long lasting lip product, I think it's going to come in handy when I'm in University for 6 hours straight. I would imagine that the lip pencils would last around 12+ hours even through eating and drinking.
  • Texture - The lip pencils feel great on the lips, they make your lips feel soft, nourished and super super glossy. The lip pencils are ideal for those who suffer with dry lips.
  • Pigmentation - No exaggeration, the lip pencils are the most pigmented lip products I have ever come across. They don't fade, bleed or rub off, in fact it takes a bit of elbow grease when removing them. They stain your lips with gliterriness, this may be seen as a bad thing but I LOVE it.
  • Product Design - The design of the lip pencils is fab, I love how they resemble a crayon. I personally love quirky things so as soon as I saw the lip pencils, I knew I had to buy one. The lip pencils are also very easy to apply to the lips due to the crayon-like tip. The thinner end allows you to line your lips and the thicker end allows you to fill in your lips.
  • Size - Each lip pencil contains 2.8ml of product which is awesome because you only have to use a tiny amount. One of the lip pencils will honestly last you a lifetime. The pencil itself is also really chunky and long.
  • Availability - The lip pencils can be purchased from a variety of online shops meaning they're easily accessible. If you search long and hard on Google, you may also find a cheeky little code to use on one of the online shops. For example, if you sign up to Look Fantastic they give you a code for £5.00 off your first order so if you ordered one of the lip pencils off there, it'd only cost you £9.00 which is amazing! Look Fantastic also offer free delivery in the UK.
The Bad:
  • Packaging - I honestly think the packaging could be better. Urban Decay are known for their fabulous packaging but there's nothing special about this, it's just a bright pink box. I know it may sound like I'm complaining about nothing but I've been using Urban Decay products for a long long time and it just appears that they couldn't be bothered designing a cool box for this lovely lip pencil. On the plus side, the box matches the lip pencil which is pretty cool.
  • Additional Extras - What Urban Decay don't tell you is that you need to buy a specific Urban Decay pencil sharpener in order to sharpen the lip pencil. Pretty sneaky if you ask me as the pencil sharpener retails at £7.00, not exactly the cheapest pencil sharpener in the world. It's a good job I already own the Urban Decay pencil sharpener. So if you want to buy one of the lip pencils, be prepared to pay £21.00.
  • Shades - There are only 5 different shades available and to be honest, they aren't exactly subtle shades. In fact I'd say they were pretty luminous, not good for those of you who are a little colour shy. I honestly think Urban Decay should create more wearable colours so that there is a shade for everyone.
The Ugly:
  • There is nothing ugly about this beautiful lip colour, it's awesome!

Overall I love the lip pencil I purchased and I can guarantee that I'll end up buying another one. If you're looking for intense, vibrant colour with immense longevity and glossiness, this is the lip pencil for you.

I would recommend this lip pencil to anyone so go and check them out! You won't be disappointed!

MUA Lipsticks

I did plan on buying a lot today whilst on my shopping trip but I honestly couldn't find anything I liked. I also wanted to purchase the rest of the MUA Pro range but unfortunately my local Superdrug didn't stock all of it, they did however have loads of the beloved 'Heaven & Earth' palettes.

I ended up buying 3 MUA lipsticks, a pair of jeans, Clarins goodies, and magazines for Friday's train journey. I won't go into detail about the Clarins goodies because all I purchased was eye makeup remover and wake up booster, I also got a free Clarins gift worth £56.00.. woo!
My jeans are gorgeous but they appear to have a hole in the back of them, I presume this is where the electronic tag was. So you know what that means, I have to take them back and swap them.. fab. If anyone wants to know which jeans I purchased then they are from Topshop and they are the 'Leigh' super soft jeans... one word COMFY.

Anyway let's talk about my MUA lipsticks. I'd never really looked at the MUA lipsticks before, not because I didn't want to it was just purely down to owning about a trillion other lipsticks. Today I thought I'd have a look at them since I've heard so many positive things about them. The MUA lipsticks are available in 13 different shades and they are only £1.00 each! Buying every single MUA lipstick is cheaper than buying one MAC lipstick which is just madness. I purchased the shades 4, 11 and 13.
Shade 4 is a typical baby pink colour, shade 11 is a nudey brown colour and shade 13 is a super duper bright red colour.

Here are the Lipsticks...

Here's shade 4...

Swatches...
From left to right: shade 4, shade 13, shade 11

Here's a swatch of shade 13, I personally love this shade the most...

These lipsticks are so fab and I cannot believe the quality of them! For £1.00 you'd expect them to be poor quality but they really aren't, they are exceptional.

All in all it's been a good day despite noticing a hole in my new jeans and not finding any decent summer clothes. We had our feet done by the little fishes which was fun, I honestly think I had some sharks in my tank, they were huge! We also bought some nice little things and best of all, the sun was shining for once!
