MAC Quick Sizzle Lipstick

As the majority of MAC lovers will know, the MAC Shop, MAC Cook collections have been released in-store and online at Selfridges. The collection will be released on the MAC website on the 28th of February and in-store on the 1st of March. I'm not sure when the collection will be released on the Debenhams website but I presume it'll be around the same time.

MAC Shop and MAC Cook are separate collections. MAC Shop consists of lipsticks, blush and eyeshadows whereas MAC Cook consists of eye liners, mascara, lip balms, nail polishes, pressed powder and brushes. I have to say that the MAC Shop and MAC Cook collections are very fun and are possibly 2 of the best collections that MAC have released in a long long time.

I have purchased quite a lot from both collections and will be reviewing the products individually as I can review each of the products in depth.

What do MAC have to say about the lipsticks?

Here's what MAC have to say about the lipstick in the MAC Shop collection:
"Spring lips dish it up! With our shop-til-you-drop shades and the collection's colourful and fun packaging these shades stay fashionable long after check-out. Limited edition!"

How would you describe 'Quick Sizzle' and where is it available?

Quick Sizzle is described as a bright pink but I would say it's a bright pink with blue undertones. It reminds me of MAC 'Girl About Town' except girl about town is just a touch darker, if anyone would like me to do a comparison post then please let me know. Quick Sizzle is more of a 'summer' shade due to it's brightness but I don't see why it cannot be worn all year round. Quick Sizzle has a matte finish but a creamy texture. It's possibly the creamiest matte lipstick I've ever tried, it honestly doesn't feel like it has a matte finish at all. It looks matte in appearance but not in texture.

Quick Sizzle retails at £13.50 and is currently available on the Selfridges website, but for how long I do not know. This collection is a collection that WILL sell out fast so grab things while you can! You'll also be able to purchase this lipstick from the MAC website as of the 28th of February and in-store as of the 1st of March so jot down those dates if you're after this lovely lippy! If you'd like to purchase this lipstick right this second, here's the link for Selfridges; Selfridges| MAC Lipsticks

What does 'Quick Sizzle' look like?

Now for the swatches...

(On the lips)

Is 'Quick Sizzle' suitable for everyone?

With regards to colour, Quick Sizzle will suit everyone without a shadow of a doubt. Whether you have a light or dark skin tone, this lipstick will suit you. The only thing I will say is that it has a matte finish so those of you who have very dry lips may not get on well with this lipstick. However, it does feel rather creamy for a matte lipstick so maybe you'll be okay. I know that a lot of MAC matte lipsticks feel very drying on the lips after they have settled so I'd still recommend trying before you buy, just to be on the safe side.
If you do suffer with dry lips then you could wear a lip balm underneath the lipstick. A handy tip is to also brush your lips with a toothbrush as this removes any dead skin cells, a lip scrub may also work.

The Good
  • Pigmentation – As with all MAC lipsticks, this lipstick has amazing pigmentation. It’s so pigmented that it actually stains your skin if you get it anywhere else other than your lips. When applying this lipstick, I accidently got a bit just above my lip and I found it so hard to remove! Another great thing about this lippy is that you only need to use a small amount, in the long run, this is going to last a very long time!
  • Longevity – This lipstick lasts around 6-8 hours, which is standard for a lipstick, especially a MAC matte lipstick. I do have MAC matte lipsticks that last a longer, for example ‘Russian Red’. The more drying MAC matte lipsticks tend to last a lot longer and this is simply down to the finish. If you want your lipstick to last then I recommend wearing a lip liner underneath or maybe a lip primer.
  • Texture – Even though this lipstick has a matte finish, it does have a creamy and smooth texture, it just glides onto the lips. I find that some MAC matte lipsticks can have a ‘pulling’ feeling when applying them to the lips but fortunately this lipstick glides straight on. This lipstick also feels very comfortable on the lips and to me, it doesn’t feel drying at all. If you have very dry lips you may think that this lipstick is quite drying, I advise to try before you buy!
  • Size - The lipstick contains 3g which is quite good. I know that some high-end lipsticks contain a lot less so 3g is pretty good. I also know for a fact that this lipstick is going to last me a lifetime as you literally only need one swipe due to the high pigmentation.
  • Packaging - I LOVE this packaging! It's fun, quirky and eye-catching! I especially like how it's got a sleeve over the standard MAC packaging as once the sleeve gets grubby, I can just throw it away and I'll still be left with the normal MAC packaging. I also liked how MAC didn't charge extra for the products like they usually do. In recent years, MAC upped the price of Limited Edition products because of the packaging, thankfully they didn't do it this time! The only thing that disappointed me is that the lipstick tube isn't funky.
  • Availability - The lipstick is only available on the Selfridges website at the moment but it will be available on many online shops and also in-store very soon.

The Okay
  • Application - This lipstick applies to the lips very well due to the lipstick having a creamy formulation but the only problem with it is that, because it's so creamy it goes everywhere. So if you apply this lipstick straight from the tube, you really are risking getting it everywhere and as I said earlier, it stains your skin. I think it would be best to apply this lipstick using a brush so that application is precise with no mess or fuss.
  • Price - I have no problem with buying MAC lipsticks as I think they're worth the money but I have to admit that £13.50 for one lipstick is ridiculous. MAC have also upped their prices over the years which I think is a little cheeky as their products have never been somewhat 'reasonably priced'.

The Bad
  • The lipstick is Limited Edition therefore once it's gone, it's gone. There are similar alternatives available but if this is the shade you're after then you need to buy it while you can. MAC collections sell out fast, this is a well known fact.

Hope you liked this post! Will any of you be buying this lovely lipstick?

New MAC Glamglass Collection

I am pleased to inform you all that MAC are launching a Glamglass collection at the end of July/ beginning of August. The Glamglass collection will be launched in the USA on the 28th of July and it'll be launched internationally at the beginning of August. I don't really understand why other international countries have to wait longer for the launch of new MAC collections, it just doesn't seem fair :P
MAC launch so many fabulous collections every year and this year we seem to have been wowed by the likes of the Wonder Woman collection and also the Surf Baby collection. MAC are also launching the Semi-Precious collection at the beginning of July, again this is going to be one HUGE collection. I think MAC should stay consistent with their great collections as I've found the MAC collections to be more miss than hit this year.

The MAC Glamglass collection will consist of 11 glamglasses and 8 lip pencils. The glamglasses and lip pencils are limited edition so I presume that they will sell out fast.

Here are the lovely glamglasses...

Glamglass names:

I'm so impressed by this collection, I think MAC have needed new lip liner colours for a long long time! The glamglasses are also perfect for the sticky lipgloss haters! YAY! They have a non sticky formulation which means they glide on the lips with ease. They are also super pigmented and are intended to last all day long.

MAC Flighty Collection

Just to let you all know, the MAC Flighty collection is now available on the MAC website and I presume it'll be available in-store from tomorrow. If you didn't know this already, new MAC collections are available in-store on the first Thursday of every month, meaning the MAC Fashion Flower collection will be available in-store on the 7th of July... YAY!

The MAC Flighty collection consists of 16 big bounce shadows and they are £13.50 each. Here are the big bounce shadow names:
  • The Cool Elite
  • Good Fortune
  • Trophy
  • Impeccably Rich
  • Up The Ante!
  • Reward Yourself
  • Free As Air
  • Spread The Wealth
  • Extra Charged
  • Sizzlin' Diva
  • Rich Thrills
  • Luxury Touch
  • Count Your Assets
  • My Next Indulgence
  • Rich, Sweet
  • Black Diamond
To look at photographs of the MAC Flighty collection then click on this link; MAC Collections

The MAC Flighty collection also includes 4 MAC coloured Zoom Lash mascaras and a MAC 242 shader brush. Here are the names of the mascaras:
  • High Esteem
  • Blue Charge
  • Plum Reserve
  • Green Is Green

Judging from the promo image you'd expect this collection to be great but I'm somewhat disappointed. Yes MAC have created 16 new shadows and they all look superly lovely but judging from the amount of negative online reviews, I don't think I'll be purchasing any of the big bounce shadows. The big bounce shadows are water resistant and are supposedly meant to last from hours but I've read online reviews that show this not to be the case. One review stated that the big bounce shadow had creased after 20 minutes of applying it, another review stated that the big bounce shadow had completely worn off after an hour.

I'm not in the habit of buying rubbishy products, especially expensive rubbishy products. If the big bounce shadows retailed at around £7.00 each then maybe I'd consider trying one.

If anyone decides to try out one of the big bounce eyeshadows then please comment below and tell me your views, I'd love to hear them! :D

Hope this post has been helpful!

MAC Mineralise Eyeshadows New For 2011

We all know that the MAC mineralise range is superly amazing but did you know that MAC are launching new mineralise eyeshadows in June? I didn't know this until the other day and I do think that MAC have been fairly secretive about the launch of these eyeshadows.

The new mineralise eyeshadows will be launched in the USA on the 19th of May but will be launched internationally in June. The most current mineralise eyeshadows retailed at £15.50 each so I presume that the new mineralise eyeshadows will be £15.50 too.

The new mineralise eyeshadows are limited edition but they will be available for 12 months. After 12 months the new mineralise eyeshadows will be made permanent but they'll only be available at free standing MAC stores or MAC Pro stores.

The new mineralise eyeshadows are 2.2 grams each meaning they're much bigger than normal MAC eyeshadows, normal MAC eyeshadows consist of 1.5g grams. The mineralise eyeshadows can also be used wet or dry meaning they are very versatile, I think they'd make awesome eyeliners!

The new MAC mineralise eyeshadows consist of 6 new colours. These include:
- This And That: Looks like a combination of pale beige and also rose beige.
- Mix And Switch: Looks like a combination of golden beige and copper.
- Sage And Wisdom: Looks like a combination of light forest green and deep seaweed green.
- Heaven And Earth: Looks like a combination of  bright sky blue and black.
- Thunder And Rain: Looks like a combination of deep violet and gunmetal grey.
- Pretty And Prim : Looks like a combination of baby pink and cranberry red.

Here are the new MAC Mineralise Eyeshadows...

Here's 'This And That'...

Here's 'Mix And Switch'...

Here's 'Sage And Wisdom'...

Here's 'Heaven And Earth'...

Here's 'Thunder And Rain'...

Here's 'Pretty And Prim'...

I think that all of these eyeshadows are super yummy and I'll most definitely be purchasing them when they're available!

There has been speculation that the new mineralise eyeshadows are very similar to the eyeshadows that were included in the MAC In The Groove collection. Tomorrow I'll write a post comparing the two so keep a look out!

Thank you for reading lovely people!

  • MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder - I not really sure what these do so once I fully understand the concept of Magically Cool Liquid Powders, I'll edit this and tell you what they are! :P From the sounds of it they are designed for the summer period and I think they are meant to keep your skin nice and refreshed.
This is what MAC states; "In the height of the summer swelter, who doesn’t crave, to suddenly feel, look and be cooler – shine, oil and heat – all gone! you’ve longed for it. And now it’s captured! Mac Magically Cool Liquid Powder. An alchemical fusion that charms water droplets into a loose powder while remaining over 50 percent H2O. The feather light silky powder goes on with the refreshing impact of an ocean mist.
What’s more, this magical melange contains just enough optical blurring via it’s light diffusing pigments to render the skins surface into line softened. natural luminosity. A cool-to-be-cool way to set, and enhance, the look of foundation. For the bare-faced, there’s the reward of natural radiance. During it’s earlier limited edtion launch, it was hailed by cognoscenti wanting to stay covertly cool and perfectly collected. This time round it’s here to stay. How magical is that?""

If anyone knows what this mean then comment and tell me! :P
Here is the Promotional picture...

Here are the Magically Cool Liquid Powders...

  • MAC Studio Fix Bold Black Lash - I presume this is going to be a new mascara. The word 'lash' kinda gives this a way.

  • MAC Zoom Coloured Mascara - These are going to be exactly the same as the Zoom Lash Mascaras in the MAC Wonder Woman collection. There will be a green, a blue, a purple and a black mascara. Also with the addition of the 242 Brush.
Here is a picture of all four mascaras...

I actually cannot wait til all of these collections are launched on the 5th of May! As soon as I own any parts of any collection then I'll swatch them for you lovely people!

I hope you've found this interesting!
