INGLOT Colour Play Lipstick Palette: Review, Photos & Swatches

If you watched my London haul on YouTube, you'll know that I recently purchased the new Inglot colour play lipsticks and a 10 pan square palette. As you all know, I absolutely love wearing bright lipsticks and I love mixing lipsticks together to create my own unique shade so I when I saw this palette I knew I needed it in my life.

The Inglot Colour Play lipsticks can be worn on the lips, eyes and face, and they can be worn alone or they can be mixed together to create unique shades.
They are ideal for anyone who likes experimenting with makeup and they're also great for MUA's. I know for a fact that I'll be having one of these palettes in my kit as well as in my own makeup collection.

This is what the freedom system 10 square pan looks like. It has a thick magnetic bottom and a strong magnetic lid, the palette itself is extremely sturdy and durable. The lipsticks slot into the palette and remain intact via the power of magnetism. Once the lipsticks are in the palette you won't be able to remove them with your hands.

Review

The Good
  • Concept - I think it's great how the lipsticks can be worn alone or mixed together to create a unique shades. I also think it's cool how you can use them on the eyes and face too.
  • Pigmentation - The lipsticks are EXTREMELY pigmented and I think the photographs prove this. All the lipsticks have intense colour and they have great colour pay off. You only need to use a small amount when applying the lipsticks meaning one lipstick will last you a while.
  • Application - The lipsticks apply very well, they go on smoothly and they don't bleed whatsoever meaning you don't have to wear a lip liner underneath them.
  • Longevity - The lipsticks last around 4-5 hours on the lips (this is through eating and drinking) which is standard for high quality lipsticks. If you were to wear shade 100 on its own you'd have to re-apply as it does go patchy.
  • Texture - The lipsticks are incredibly creamy and soft meaning they're great for anyone who suffers with dry or cracked lips. They don't settle into fine lines or cracks and they don't irritate the lips at all. Another great thing about the lipsticks is that they haven't got a sticky texture.
  • Packaging - I think the palette is very well made and sturdy, it has a strong magnetised lid and a thick magnetised base meaning the lipsticks will not fall out of the palette. The lipsticks are in a metal pan meaning they stick to the base, once they're in the palette, they can't be removed, unless you use a magnet of course.
  • Price - The freedom system palette retails at £10 and the colour play lipsticks retail at £4.50 each, both of which are very reasonable prices. £4.50 is absolutely incredible for a lipstick, especially a high quality lipstick, you'd be hard pushed to find a decent drugstore lipstick for £4.50. If you purchased both the palette and all 10 lipsticks it would cost you £55, or £44 if you're an MUA, which is amazing!

The Okay
  • Shade Selection - The shade selection is good but it could be better. I think it's good how Inglot have produced a good selection of bright and vibrant shades, and they've pretty much covered all the colours of the rainbow but where are the black and red shades? I really feel Inglot should have included all of the primary colours and not just 2 of them. If they included a red and a black, a lot more custom shades could be made.
  • Opacity - Some of the lipsticks were more opaque than others, shades 93, 95, 99, 98, 96 and 97 were completely opaque whereas shades 94, 92, 91 and 100 were a little patchy. I think the lipsticks should all have the same opacity and I personally feel a little disappointed that some of the lipsticks were patchy. I didn't have to layer any of the opaque lipsticks but I had to layer the patchy lipsticks.
  • Availability - Availability is an issue for me and this is due to the limited Inglot stores in the UK. The only way I can purchase Inglot products is online as the nearest Inglot store is more than 2 hours away. I rarely order Inglot products online because of two reasons, one, I like to swatch products beforehand and two, the delivery costs are absolutely ridiculous. Inglot really need to open more stores in the UK because their products are fabulous, and also cheap!

The Bad
  • Scent - It doesn't help that I'm quite sensitive to scents in the first place but when I say these stink, they really do. The scent reminds me of a mix between watermelon and sweeties, which some people may love but I personally hate it. Not only is the scent an issue for me but the fact the scent is overpowering makes matters a whole lot worse. When I swatched the lipsticks on my arm I noticed the scent straight away and if truth be told I dreaded doing the lip swatches. You'd think that the scent would wear off after a while but I'm sad to say it doesn't, you're left with sickly watermelon lips all day. If Inglot changed the scent, I'd be a happy bunny.

Where to buy:

Rating

I absolutely love my Inglot colour play lipsticks and I'll definitely purchase them again in the near future. I really hope Inglot decide to bring out a black and a red lipstick as I feel this would make my colour play collection complete, I also love mixing lipsticks to create my own unique shades and feel I'd benefit from a black and a red lipstick.

Below is a photograph of the aftermath of me swatching the lovely lipsticks. As you can see, I have a VERY stained arm.

I hope you all liked this post and if you would like me to do a post on creative lip art and/or a post on mixing lipsticks please let me know.

Many thanks for reading and I'll talk to you in my next post!

Much Love,
Cole

How To: Remove Inglot Eyeshadows

Magnetised eyeshadow palettes are becoming a lot more popular in the makeup world, they enable you to choose which eyeshadows you like and you can easily swap and change the eyeshadows whenever you like. Handy for when removing a used up eyeshadow or fancying a re-arrange of your eyeshadows.
I'm not going to explain how a magnetic palette works as it's self explanatory, the eyeshadow just clicks into a slot via magnetism.
The only problem with magnetic palettes is that the eyeshadows can be tricky to remove once slotted in the palette as the magnetic force can be quite strong. I own many magnetised eyeshadow palettes, including MAC, Yaby, Make Up For Ever, Fashionista, and Inglot and I have to say that Inglot eyeshadows are the hardest things to remove.
There are lots of different methods about how to remove Inglot eyeshadows including, using the magnets on the lid, using your finger nail, using a long silver pin etc etc.. but I personally find that these methods either don't work, take too long or damage my eyeshadows.
Due to changing my eyeshadow palettes every 5 seconds, I needed to find a quick and easy method that would remove the eyeshadows with ease without damaging them in anyway. I thought of the 'magnet method' and it worked like a treat as you will see if you keep reading.

The palette comes with a magnetic lid. The magnets on the lid can be used to remove the eyeshadows but I personally find that this method doesn't work for me as it's time confusing and fiddly! Using a magnet is much more efficient.

As you can see from this picture, my palette contains many brown eyeshadows but it also contains brown eyeshadows with a purple undertone. This is not how I want my palette to look as I want my purple toned brown eyeshadows in a different palette. If I hadn't of thought of the magnet method, my palette would remain like this but now I can remove the eyeshadows with ease, I can place the purple toned brown eyeshadows into one of my fresh, clean Inglot palettes.

This is the magnet I purchased from Clas Ohlson. It's a 32mm magnet which is plenty big enough, I thought it'd be too small but it's the perfect size. The magnet has a protective layer and I recommend that you keep this layer on whilst using the magnet.
The magnet also retails at £7.29 which does seem a little pricey but a magnet is a lifetime investment and you can use it on any magnetic palette, not just an Inglot palette.
Here is the link to the magnet: Clas Ohlson

When I first used my magnet, I took the protective layer off but I really should have kept it on as I ended up ruining my eyeshadow, as you can see by looking at the photograph above. The force of the magnet was so strong that it dragged out half of the eyeshadow as well as the pan. It's really important that you keep the protective layer on as you could end up doing the same thing to your eyeshadow if you don't.

How to remove the eyeshadow:

Step 1:
Gently the place the magnet over the eyeshadow. You should feel a 'pulling' force and the eyeshadow should stick to the magnet.

Step 2:
Gently lift away from the palette and remove the eyeshadow from the magnet.

As you can see, the eyeshadow isn't harmed in any shape or form.

You're able to read the name of the eyeshadow with ease. This is handy if you're noting down the name for a makeup tutorial or for if you want to recommend the eyeshadow to a family member or friend.

Here's how the palette looks once the eyeshadow has been removed.

It's a quick and simple method that literally takes no more than 10 seconds! Much more simple than faffing around with the lid or a needle!

I hope this post has been helpful to those of you who struggle to remove eyeshadows!

Inglot Body Sparkles

I don't know if you know this but I have a rather large obsession with glitter. I possibly own at least one glitter from every makeup brand as I'm eager to try out different glitters. I know a lot of you are probably thinking 'isn't a glitter, a glitter?!' but trust me, all glitters are different in their own way. You could call me a glitter connoisseur.

I know I probably don't need any more glitters but I really wanted to try Inglot glitters (Body Sparkles) as I'd heard they were meant to be fabulous. My boyfriend bought me an Inglot glitter for Christmas and loved it so much that I purchased 3 more. I'm so impressed with Inglot glitters and you shall find out why later in this post.

Inglot glitters are formerly known as 'Body Sparkles' but to make life a lot easier, I'm going to refer to them as 'glitters' in this post. The Inglot glitters I'll be showing you are '59', '73', '66' and 'XL7' and they all retail at £12.00 each.

So without further ado, here are the Body Sparkles I own...

'59'
Fine Multi-coloured Glitter

'73'
Chunky Silver Glitter

'66'
Fine Silver Glitter

'XL7'
Fine White Glitter (Blue Reflects)

Swatches...

From left to right; '59', '73', '66' and 'XL7'

From left to right; '59', '73', '66' and 'XL7'

The photographs above don't do any justice whatsoever so I decided to insert a mini clip to show you all how sparkly these beauties are. You'll be dazzled by the glitteriness!

The Good:
  • Pigmentation - All the glitters I purchased have amazing pigmentation. When using the glitters, you don't need to use much at all. The smallest amount is suffice. Whenever I use one of them, I just use what's on the inside of the lid. I also find that number '66' is the most pigmented due to the finer particles of glitter.
  • Longevity - Inglot glitter lasts on the eyes all day. I find that with most glitter you have to apply a sticky base to the eyelids first as glitter tends to fall down or 'fly away'. You don't have to use a sticky base with Inglot glitter as it stays on the eyelids all day. The only way the glitter will come off is if you physically remove it yourself.
  • Texture - Inglot glitter has very fine particles which are lightweight. I sometimes find that glitter has large particles which can feel uncomfortable on the eyelids. This isn't the case with Inglot glitter, it's perfect for wearing in the daytime and the evening.
  • Variety - Inglot glitters come in large selection of colours and they all have different particle sizes which is good if you're looking for a chunky or fine glitter. I love Inglot glitters and I think the colour selection is fabulous.

The Okay:
  • Packaging - The glitter comes in a glass jar which might be considered to be a bad thing because if you drop it on a hard floor, it's going to smash. Other than that, I think the glass jar makes the product seem a little more expensive. More classy and of a higher quality.
  • Size - The glitters aren't exactly the largest, they're quite small in comparison to other branded glitters. To give you an indication, MAC 3D glitters are triple the size of Inglot glitters and only cost £3.50 more. I guess the good thing with Inglot glitters is that you only need to use the tiniest amount unlike MAC glitters where you have to use a lot.
  • Availability - Inglot have an online website and also a store in London but that's it. I wouldn't say you can easily get hold of Inglot products as there's only 2 ways of buying but for me, availability isn't a huge issue as I buy online. I just don't understand why they charge £5.00 for delivery.
  • Price - £12.00 seems quite reasonable for a glitter but I must admit, they aren't the biggest. If anything, the glitters are tiny in comparison to other branded glitters.

The Bad:
  • Website - The glitters are amazing and I cannot fault them at all, but the website isn't the best. The glitter colour chart is appalling as it doesn't give you a clear image of what each glitter is like. The chart resembles a few fuzzy pictures so you basically have to guess what you think looks nice. Luckily I'm happy with my glitters but you really could get yourself in a pickle if you choose the wrong one by mistake.

Overall I love Inglot glitters and I will definitely purchase more in the future. The quality of Inglot glitter is amazing and I think it's great how you only need to use the tiniest amount. The Inglot glitters I own are going to last me a lifetime but that won't stop me buying more. Out of all my branded glitters, I'd say Inglot glitters are the best, without a shadow of a doubt. If you can justify spending £12.00 on a glitter, definitely try Inglot. If not, then give POP glitters a go.

Out of all four glitters, I recommend trying '66' and '73'. Those ones are the best by far!

I hope you like my lovely glitters and if you'd like to take a look at the other glitters available, here is the link; Inglot

Inglot Cream Lipstick in '127'

I have been wanting to try Inglot products for a while and as soon as they launched a UK website, I jumped at the chance of buying some of the products. I bought a large selection of eyeshadows, lipsticks, glitters, eyeliners and other various things of which I'll be blogging about in the coming weeks.

The first thing I'm going to show you all is a cream lipstick. I only purchased one of the cream lipsticks as I'd never tried them before but I think I'll be purchasing more very soon so hopefully I'll be able to show you more of the cream lipsticks in the near future.

Inglot offer 3 different types of lipsticks; 'Matte', 'Cream' and 'Pearl'. The different finishes are available in a wide selection of shades, possibly the largest amount of shades I've ever seen. The great thing about this is that if you're after a red lipstick but don't want a red matte lipstick, you can easily select a red cream lipstick. The lipsticks also retail at £10.00 each which I think is pretty reasonable as the quality is better than a MAC lipstick.

I knew I wanted to try a bright red lipstick so I tried to find a colour that looked remotely bright. Luckily I chose the right one, even though I had to guess.

So without further ado, here is the lipstick I chose...

Cream Lipstick in '127'

Swatch on my hand...

Swatch on the lips...

The Good:
  • Pigmentation - The lipstick is very pigmented, I was actually shocked at how pigmented it was. You also only need to use a tiny bit, this is a huge positive as the lipstick is going to last.
  • Longevity - The lipstick has great staying power, I would say it lasts around 6-8 hours with eating and drinking. With any other lipstick you would expect the staying power to be around 4-5 hours.
  • Texture - The lipstick feels very comfortable on the lips so it would be a great choice if you suffer with dry lips. I find that I can't wear matte red lipsticks in winter as my lips go really dry so it's nice to have a red lipstick that I can actually wear. The lipstick applies very well to the lips as the texture is smooth and creamy.
  • Size - The lipstick contains 4.5g of product which is brilliant. A MAC lipstick, for example, contains 3g of product so you're getting an extra 1.5g with Inglot lipsticks. More product for less of a price!
  • Variety - I have honestly never seen as many lipstick shades in all my life, there is literally a shade for everyone. There's every shade imaginable, even a gold lipstick!

The Okay:
  • Packaging - I wouldn't say the packaging was particularly good or bad, it's just okay. I think the black shiny tube is lovely, and in a way it looks quite classy but I think it could be better. I know I shouldn't be complaining about the packaging because the product itself is great but for £10.00, I think the packaging could be a little better. I also find that the lid is a little tricky to push on, almost as if you can feel air being trapped under the lid. It doesn't affect the lipstick in anyway but it just feels a bit odd when putting the lid back on.
  • Availability - Now I know that Inglot have an online website and also a store in London but other than that you cannot get hold of it. I wouldn't necessarily say the availability is a huge issue as you can buy online, however I think £5.00 for delivery is appalling.
  • Price - Although £10.00 seems quite reasonable, it's still considered to be expensive to some people. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative then try the Sleek 'True Colour' lipsticks! If you don't mind paying extra, then I'd definitely recommend trying an Inglot cream lipstick.

The Bad:
  • Website - There is nothing wrong with the lipstick itself, but the website is horrendous. It's hard trying to find the perfect shade as the colour chart isn't very clear. I think Inglot need to take tips off Illasmasqua and start doing proper swatches as it's hard to look at various shades. I also think the website could be set out a little nicer as it looks a bit boring.

Overall it's a lovely lipstick and I would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I will say is that it's quite bright so if you're a little colour shy, it might not be the one for you, you could always try another shade though! I'll definitely be buying more of these very soon!
