L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation

If you follow my blog then you will know that I was recently sent a lovely box containing three products from the new L'Oreal Lumi Magique range. I previously reviewed the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer but today I'm going to be reviewing the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation.

As I said in my previous post I'm going to be reviewing all three products separately as I can give a full review on each of them.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation: "An illuminating foundation infused with liquid light technology"

What L'Oreal have to say about the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation...

"Liquid light technology is comprised of lustrous lamellar fillers in geometric shapes, or ultra-shiny mirrors and has excellent reflective qualities. The lamellar fillers are dispersed in transparent oils, which give them optical properties and gives an immediate optical effect. As the product is spread over the skin, the platelets position themselves side by side, creating a smooth surface, while also allowing the skin's own light to shine through. Light reflection is optimized and luminosity intensified."

What are the product claims?

• Provides skin with 24 hours of hydration. 
• 14 hours of luminosity.
• Adds 30%+ more radiance to the skin.
• Oil free and non-comedogenic.
• Gives a shine free effect.

Where can you buy the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation?

The L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation retails at £10.99 and can be purchased in-store and online at Boots and also Superdrug. The foundation contains 30ml of product which is the standard amount as the majority of foundations contain 30ml of product. 30ml is a lot therefore one bottle of foundation is going to last a while, especially if you use the recommended pea-sized amount. 

The L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation is available in six different shades:

C1 Rose Pearl, W3 Gold Linen, N4 Pure Beige, C4 Rose Beige, C5 Rose Sand and W5 Gold Sand. 

To give you all an indication I use 'Siberia' in NARS and I'm NC15 in MAC. In the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation I use 'C1 Rose Pearl' and it is a little too dark, so if you're uber pale like myself, you may want to mix a paler foundation with this foundation.

Is the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation suitable for everyone?

The L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation is suitable for absolutely anyone, it doesn't matter if you have a dry, combination or oily skin type. 

I would highly recommend this foundation to anyone who has dry skin as it's very hydrating, it also does a wonderful job of covering up dry patches. I have very dry skin at the moment and find that the majority of my foundations stick to my unpleasant dry patches but I don't find this to be the case with this foundation.
The L'Oreal Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation is also suitable for combination and oily skin types as this foundation is oil free, it doesn't produce excess oil throughout the day either. I must admit, it does give the skin a bit of shine but it's not an oily shine if that makes sense. You definitely will not have to use powder or blot paper.
If you own this foundation and find that it sticks to any imperfections then I would suggest using an exfoliator 2-3 times a week as this will get rid of any dead skin cells and imperfections.

The Good

• Application - I use a Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush to apply this foundation and I must admit that when using this brush, it goes on like a dream. The foundation spreads evenly across the face due to its light, air like texture and it sinks into the skin almost instantly. 
• Coverage - The foundation has a build-able coverage which is great, it's nice having a foundation that has a build-able coverage as you have the option of creating a light, medium or full coverage. Due to it's build-able coverage, it's the perfect foundation for using in A/W and S/S, a medium/full coverage in A/W and a light coverage in S/S. Another great thing about this foundation is that you don't have to use concealer underneath or over the top of it as this foundation will cover any imperfections. If you suffer from darkness underneath your eyes then you may want to use a concealer but other than that, you really do not need to use concealer on scars, blemishes, pigmentation etc. 
• Longevity - This foundation lasts around 10-12 which is great as some foundations typically last around 8 hours. The foundation doesn't fade, go patchy or slide off the skin, it stays put all day. It does transfer a little but this isn't a huge problem for me. If it transfers onto my iPhone, I'll just wipe it away. 
• Texture - The foundation has a lovely light texture, it doesn't have a thick consistency and it doesn't feel heavy on the skin, it honestly feels as if you're not wearing any foundation. Skin is left feeling soft and smooth. 
• Finish - It doesn't have a matte or semi-matte finish, it has a glowy finish. It also doesn't give a horrible, cakey look unlike some foundations. If you want a foundation that makes your skin look radiant, then this is the foundation for you. 
• Price - £10.99 is an amazing price for a foundation, I usually spend in the region of £30.00 on a foundation so I would say that £10.99 is as cheap as chips. I know some people may think £10.99 is still a little expensive for a foundation but trust me, this foundation is amazing and is definitely worth the £10.99 price tag! 
• Packaging - I like the packaging as I think the bottle looks somewhat sophisticated and classy. Rose gold is very 'in' at the moment so it's great to see that L'Oreal have included something which is so 'on trend' at the moment. The foundation also comes with a pump too, this means no mess, no fuss and you're able to dispense the correct amount of product. 
• Size - The foundation contains 30ml which is the standard amount. 

The Okay

• Shade Selection - There are only six different shades available and this may be a problem if you have a darker skin tone. I personally don't have a problem with the shade selection as the palest shade works for me even if it is a shade darker than I'd like it to be but I know that some people may struggle to find the perfect shade. If you do find that there isn't a shade light or dark enough then you could simply mix the foundation with a lighter or darker foundation that you own. 

The Bad

• I don't have a bad word to say about this foundation at all as it's amazing. It's a lovely foundation with an even lovelier price and I will definitely purchase another bottle in the future.

Overall...

Overall I think that this is a lovely foundation and I would definitely purchase it in the future. It's leaves my skin looking so airbrushed and flawless despite having a few horrid dry patches. The foundation covers up my dry patches as opposed to sticking to them and it also leaves my skin feeling hydrated, these are 2 massive bonuses for me. The foundation has a build-able coverage and a light texture which I like as it feels like I'm not wearing any foundation at all. The foundation also has great staying power so I don't have to worry that my foundation is going to slide off my face throughout the day, it's a good foundation to use when I know I'm going to be out for hours on end. A brill foundation with an even better price tag.

NOTD: Topshop 'Pool Party'

I recently bought 'Pool Party' after seeing it online, it appeared to be more of a mint green colour on the website but in the flesh it's more of a turquoise colour. I don't mind this as it's a lovely colour for S/S but I was hoping for more of a mint green colour.

I cannot comment on the quality of this nail varnish as I've only had it on for 2 days but so far so good. One thing I will say is that it took little time to dry which is a massive bonus as I'm very impatient.
If anyone would like me to do a review on the Topshop nail varnishes then please let me know.

I love this colour as it's fun and vibrant but I really wish it looked like it did on the website. Clearly Topshop has deceived me.

Top Ten Lipsticks (& Cheaper Alternatives)

I have seen a few top ten lipstick posts recently so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and show you my top ten lipsticks. I want to make my post a little different from the rest so I'm going to include cheaper alternatives.

I'm going to talk about the finish, colour and price of each lipstick. The cheaper alternatives are pretty much exact dupes so I'm not going to repeat myself by saying 'it's exactly the same as blah blah blah' as I'm pretty sure you'll all get bored of me saying it.

My top ten lipsticks are the lipsticks I reach for the most, so without further ado here they are!

1.) MAC 'Mlle' (LE) - £13.50 - Glaze Formula

 Cheaper alternative: Inglot Refill in '07' - £3.50

Price difference: £10.00

Mlle is described as a blue based pale pink. Out of all my lipsticks, this is the one I reach for most. Even though it has a glaze formula, the pigmentation and longevity is amazing.

2.) MAC Pro Longwear in 'Overtime' - £16.50 - Creamy Formula

 Cheaper alternative: Topshop 'Pillow Talk' - £8.00

Price difference: £8.50

Overtime is described as light baby pink. It's a lovely lipstick for wearing both during the day and also at night. I also use this lipstick when sporting a dramatic eye. The pro longwear lipsticks last a lot longer on the lips and have a lovely texture. You would expect them to be quite drying but they're really not. 

3.) MAC Kissable Lip Colour in 'Enchantee' (LE) - £16.50 - Creamy Formula

 Cheaper alternative: MUA Out There Plumping Lip Gloss in 'Candy Pink' - £2.00

Price difference: £14.50

Enchantee is described as a light blue pink. It's a lovely lipstick for wearing during the day and it's also a lovely lipstick for wearing throughout summer. The MAC kissable lip colours have the texture of a lip gloss but the finish of the lipstick. They're perfect for those who have dry lips and also those who detest lip gloss. 

4.) MAC 'Pink Friday' (LE) - £13.50 - Satin Formula

Cheaper alternative: Inglot Lip Paint in '57' - £8.00

Price difference: £5.50

Pink Friday is described as bright creamy pink. It's a lovely lipstick and I must admit I'm pretty gutted that it's limited edition. I guess I'll be sticking to my trusty Inglot lip paint when it runs out as there's no difference between the two. 

5.) YSL Rouge Pur Couture in '22' - £23.50 

Cheaper alternative: MAC 'Saint Germain' - £13.50 - Amplified Formula 

Price difference: £10.00

Shade 22 has to be the ultimate barbie shade. I love pink lipsticks, especially barbie pink lipsticks, so when I saw this it was love at first sight. Shade 22 has amazing pigmentation and longevity despite the uber creamy texture. I also love the gold shiny packaging, it's classy, elegant and looks very expensive. It's most definitely a handbag lipstick.

6.) MAC 'Candy Yum Yum' (LE) - £13.50 - Matte Formula

Cheaper alternative: Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Lipstick in 'Shocking Pink' - £2.99 

Price difference: £10.51

Candy Yum Yum is described as a neon magenta pink. It's an insanely bright, bold, beautiful lipstick. I know every man and their wife are after this lovely lippy but you'll be pleased to know that I've found a good dupe...HURRAY. Candy Yum Yum isn't necessarily a lipstick I wear everyday but it's one of my top ten lipsticks of all time, I mean, just look at it!

7.) Nars 'Schiap' - £17.50 - Semi Matte Formula

Cheaper alternative: Inglot Refill in '53' - £3.50

Price difference: £14.00

Schiap is described as a shocking pink. Schiap isn't as shocking as Candy Yum Yum but it's certainly an eye-catcher. Schiap has the best staying power ever, I have worn it for around 15 hours and it did not budge at all, it literally stained my lips. It honestly beats anything else. 

8.) MAC 'Ladydanger' - £13.50 - Matte Formula

Cheaper alternative: MUA 'Shade 13' - £1.00

Price difference: £12.50

Ladydanger is described as a vivid coral-red. It's possibly the brighest red I own and again, it's a bit of an eye-catcher. Ladydanger has a matte finish and I must admit that it's quite drying, but I think the drying properties help this lipstick to last on the lips all day. Another thing I love about this lipstick is that it doesn't bleed meaning you don't have to wear a lip liner underneath it. 

9.) MAC Kissable Lip Colour in 'Strutt Your Stuff' (LE) - £16.50 - Creamy Formula

Cheaper alternative: OCC Lip Tar in 'Harlot' - £6.50

Price difference: £10.00

Strutt Your Stuff is described as an orange toned red. What I love most about this lipstick is that it has a lovely creamy texture. The MAC kissable lip colours have the texture of a lip gloss but the finish of a lipstick. 

10.) MAC 'Diva' - £13.50 - Matte Formula

 Cheaper alternative: Inglot Refill in '86' - £3.50

Price difference: £10.00

Diva is described as intense reddish-burgundy. It is the perfect lipstick for wearing in autumn/winter due to it looking quite vampy. Considering it has a matte formula it actually doesn't feel drying on the lips whatsoever. I also find that it doesn't look patchy unlike some dark toned lipsticks.

Lee Stafford My Big Fat Texturised Hair Super Spray

If you follow my blog or watch my videos on YouTube you'll know that I'm quite partial to a big bouffant, in simple terms, I like big hair. I have used many 'big hair' products over the years but always find myself going back to my trusty VO5 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Powder. 
I recently went shopping with my Mamma and Sister and whilst we were having a browse in Boots, I noticed that Lee Stafford had his own range of 'big hair' products. I was originally going to buy the Matt Fat Powder but due to owning about 10 bottles of the VO5 instant oomph powder, I decided to go for the My Big Fat Texturised Hair Super Spray instead. Lee also has My Big Fat Healthy Shampoo and Conditioner too but I decided not to buy those as I'm currently using a colour save shampoo. 

What does Lee have to say about his My Big Fat Texturised Hair Super Spray?

"Is it a hairspray? No. Wax Spray? No. Sea Salt Spray? No. It’s a super spray! This really is a super spray with the hold of a hairspray, the volume of a wax spray, the texture of a sea salt spray, a matte finish and more!"

So Lee, how do we use the My Big Fat Texturised Hair Super Spray? 

"You need to shake my super slush before use; you’ll notice I’ve left a space at the top of the bottle so you’ve got the room to give it a really good shake. Once the slush has turned to liquid it’s ready to be sprayed onto your hair. Spray onto dry hair and work in with your hands for BIG, texturised hair with a matte finish."

What are the product claims?

• Gives hair volume.
• Gives hair texture.
• Holds hair in place, just like a hairspray does.
• Gives a matte look to the hair.
• Leaves hair looking healthy.

Where can you buy the My Big Fat Texturised Hair Super Spray?

The spray retails at £9.29 and can be purchased in-store and online at Boots. The spray also contains 90ml of product. Boots are offering 3 for 2 on all Lee Stafford products at the moment so it might be worth checking out the range. 

What does the My Big Fat Texturised Hair Super Spray look like?

Is the My Big Fat Texturised Hair Super Spray suitable for everyone?

Anyone can use the spray as it's suitable for all hair types, no matter if you have dry, greasy, thick or thin hair. I would say that if you're someone who has thin hair who wants to add texture to your hair then  you would benefit from using a texture spray or texture powder as they create texture and also volume. 

The Good

• Packaging - I really like the packaging and this is primarily due to it being pink. I also think the writing on the bottle is quite fun and quirky, it definitely catches your eye. I also like how the spray comes with a pump as this makes application easy. 

The Okay

• Scent - I don’t love the scent of the spray but then again I don’t hate it, it’s just okay. I’m not going to lie, it does have a strong musky smell and the smell does cling onto your hair. You would imagine the scent to wear off after a few hours but it doesn’t, it lingers, which I guess is a good thing as it leaves your hair smelling remotely nice.  If you love musky smells you will love this spray, if you don’t then you’ll hate it.
• Size - The spray contains 90ml of product which is fairly reasonable. 
• Availability - The spray is available at Boots, which can be considered good and bad. Good if you live in the UK, bad if you live internationally. Boots do ship internationally but I presume shipping costs will be quite high which isn’t great.
  
  

The Bad

• Performance - This product does not live up to expectations whatsoever. Lee claims that the spray will add volume and texture to the hair and it does not do this at all. It left my hair looking flat, especially on the top of my head, I actually had to use my VO5 powder as my hair looked shocking. I love adding volume and texture to my hair as it's quite thin so was really disappointed to find that the spray did nothing to my hair. Lee also claims that the spray will give the hair a matte look, the only look it gave my hair was a dull greasy one. I usually wash my hair every two days but when using the spray I had to wash it everyday. Lee also claims that spray will help to hold hair in place, it really does not do this. 
• Practicality - This spray is not practical for anyone who is weak as it's hard to shake the bottle. I have little weak arms and found it hard to shake the bottle.  
• Texture - The spray has a very sticky texture which I find very unpleasant. The spray is meant to turn from a solid into a liquid and it honestly does not do this. I have tried shaking the bottle for 2 minutes and I have tried shaking this bottle for 5 minutes, it just does not turn into a runny liquid. And when Lee claims the product will fill the empty space in the bottle when shaken, this also isn't the case. It has a thick, sticky texture that literally clings onto the hair. 
• Instructions - Yes the packaging is fun and I guess Lee does provide minimal information about what the spray does and what you do with it but I think instructions could be a little clearer. Yes it does say to apply the spray onto dry hair but it doesn't say if you work the product into your hair or if just leave it to sit on top of your hair. It also doesn't say how far apart you have to spray, usually products say 'you need to leave a 20cm distance between your hair and the bottle' but this spray doesn't say this.  
• Price - I wouldn't usually mind spending £9.99 on a decent hair product but when the product isn't great, it leaves me thinking that I've wasted my money. £9.99 is a lot to pay for any product but it's especially a lot to pay for a poor product.

Overall...

I really do not like this spray at all and if I'm being honest, I feel really let down. I wish I'd have gone for the matt fat powder instead but you know what they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing. The spray didn't add any form of volume or texture to my hair at all, if anything it made my hair flat and greasy. I also wasn't fond of the stickiness of the spray and think instructions could be made a little clearer on the bottle. As for holding properties, there are none, I still had to use a gallon of my beloved Tresemme hairspray. I know that this review is a little negative but I really wanted to share my experience with this spray. I blog about the good things so feel I should blog about the bad things too. 

I'm not saying that this spray won't work for everyone, it just didn't work for me. 

Would I recommend? No

Would I re-purchase? No

How to create Easter Chick Nails!

So if you don't know already, I'm going to be doing a series of easter nail tutorials. I'm keeping them all relatively simple as it gives you all a chance to re-create the designs yourself. The first easter nail art tutorial I did was Easter Bunny Nails, and since they were a huge success I've decided to do easter chick nails.

What you will need to create easter chick nails:

• Yellow nail varnish - I used Ciate 'Big Yellow Taxi'
• Blue nail varnish - I used O.P.I 'What's With The Cattitude'
• White nail varnish - I used Orly 'White Out'
• Orange nail varnish - I used 17 'Orange Soda'
• Black nail varnish - I used Barry M 'Black'
• Dotting tools

If you do not own dotting tools then have no fear as cocktail sticks or a dried up ball point pen will work just as well. 

If you would like to create easter chick nails all you have to do is follow my nice and easy steps!

1.) Apply the yellow nail varnish to your nails, excluding your ring finger nail. Apply the blue nail varnish to your ring finger nail.

2.) To create the cracked shell all you have to do is create small over-lapping triangles on the tips of your finger nails (excluding your ring finger nail) using the white nail varnish and a small dotting tool. It sounds confusing but trust me, it's easy peasy. 

3.) To create the chick's nose all you have to do is draw a small triangle in the centre of your nail (excluding your ring finger nail) using the orange nail varnish and a small dotting tool. 

To create the chick's eyes, dot 2 white dots using the white nail varnish and a medium dotting tool. Once the white dots are dry, apply a small black dot in the centre of each white dot, this can be done using the black nail varnish and a small dotting tool. 

On your ringer finger nail, apply several dots to your nail using the white nail varnish and a medium dotting tool.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer

I was recently sent a lovely rose gold box containing three products from the new L'Oreal Lumi Magique collection. A lovely lady called Hannah contacted me to see if I would like to try products from the range and as I have been a fan of L'Oreal for a long time, I jumped at the chance. 

Here is the lovely box I was sent. It includes the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer, Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation and a Lumi Magique Touch Of Light Highlighting Pen.

I love how big the box is and I love how it comes with a huge mirror. I'll definitely be using this box for storage!

Is the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer suitable for everyone?

The primer is suitable for absolutely everyone, no matter if you have dry skin, combination skin or oily skin. 

If you have dry skin then this little beauty is going to be your best friend as it leaves skin feeling hydrated. L'Oreal claim that this primer leaves skin hydrated for around 8 hours and I would say that this is true. At the moment I have dry skin and have noticed that when I wear this primer, my skin doesn't feel dry or itchy. I usually have to remove all traces of makeup as soon as I return home after a busy day as my skin starts to feel awful throughout the day but I find that this isn't the case when I use this primer. If you have very dry skin then you may need to use a moisturiser before applying this primer to your skin, just to give you that extra moisture. 

If you have combination or oily skin then you will like this primer as it doesn't leave skin feeling oily. The primer doesn't create unnecessary oil throughout the day, unlike some primers, this is a huge bonus if you suffer with oily skin. 

Obviously everyone's skin is different so whereas it might be brilliant for one person, it might not be so great for another person. Just try before you buy!

It's also suitable for all skin tones as it's colourless, it just adds a lovely sheen to the skin. 

If you're looking for an illuminating primer, then this is the one for you. 

The Good:

• Concept - I think it's great how the primer can be used alone and also underneath any foundation. I also think it's great that you can use it as a highlighter too. I don't think I've ever seen a 2 in 1 primer before. 
• Product Performance - The primer does improve the lasting power of foundation. When I wear the primer I find that my foundation doesn't slide off the skin at all, I also find that it doesn't transfer onto objects (e.g. my iPhone) as much as it usually would. The primer helps to keep foundation in place all day without budging. 
• Finish - The primer leaves skin looking luminous all day. It gives the skin a healthy glow and adds touch of radiance. I wouldn't say that the primer evened out skin tone as it's illuminating properties outweigh it's evening properties. 
• Texture - The primer doesn't feel oily or greasy whatsoever and it doesn't have a thick consistency, it has a lovely lightweight texture and it also feels very silky and smooth. 
• Blend-ability - The primer blends into the skin smoothly and evenly, it melts into the skin. 
• Packaging - The primer comes in a slim lightweight plastic tube. It also has a pump meaning you can dispense the correct amount of product. The primer is light and small enough to carry around with you and also pop in your makeup bag, and you also don't have to fear that it's going to leak or break due to the plastic packaging. I like how slim the tube is and I like how light it is, I hate big bulky products that take up a lot of room. 
• Size - The primer contains 20ml of product which is a good amount, the standard amount is usually around 30ml so the L'Oreal lumi magique pure light primer does contain 10ml less but you don't have to use a lot of it. A pea sized amount is more than enough to cover your full face. 
• Availability - The primer can be purchased online at Boots and in-store at Boots and Superdrug. L'Oreal products are easy to locate as there are plenty of Boots and Superdrug stores across the whole of the UK. 

The Okay:

• Price - The primer retails at £9.99 which I think is very reasonable considering it is such a good product. Some people may think £9.99 is a little expensive for a primer but we have to remember that L'Oreal is considered a higher quality high street brand. If you were to buy the Nars multi-protect primer it would cost you around £25.00 so £9.99 really isn't that bad. 

The Bad:

• I have nothing bad to say about this primer at all, it's a brilliant product. 

Overall...

Personally I would only use the primer as a base as I'm not a fan of mixing primer into my foundations as I find it a little faffy. I wouldn't use the primer as a highlighter as I prefer powder highlighters to cream highlighters. I would imagine that it would look lovely as a highligher but I just not a fan of cream cheek products in general. If you're looking for a decent illuminating primer then I highly recommend checking out this one because it's lovely. It instantly adds radiance to the skin and leaves the skin looking beautiful, although I wouldn't necessarily say that it evens out skin tone. I would use this primer on a regular basis and especially on holiday as it would look lovely alone with a tan.
